The Big Five in one crater

Ngorongoro Crater

A UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the world's largest unbroken volcanic calderas, home to the Big Five.

The Ngorongoro Crater is one of the largest unbroken volcanic calderas in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. On its floor lives one of the highest concentrations of wildlife in Africa, and arguably its densest population of predators — lion, leopard, cheetah and hyena.

It is one of the best places in Tanzania to see all of the Big Five — lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and the rare black rhino — in a single day, inside a self-contained world teeming with animals.
